New COVID-19 Cases in Antrim and Charlevoix counties
The Health Department of Northwest Michigan wants to make the public aware of two new COVID-19 cases reported today, one in Charlevoix County and one in Antrim County, with no known source identified through case investigation. When a source of transmission cannot be identified, it is an important reminder for all of us that COVID-19 continues to spread in our communities.
Occasionally during contact tracing, we are unable to identify all potential close contacts and therefore share information about potential exposure at a public location. In this instance, one of the individuals informed us of the following public locations visited during the symptomatic period on 5/13 between 12 pm and 4 pm.
- Family Fare in Bellaire
- BP in Bellaire
- Dollar General in Bellaire
- Subway in Bellaire
Individuals that were present at the above locations should self-monitor for 14 days from the date of potential exposure. The Health Department of Northwest Michigan has conducted a case investigation and contact tracing to identify and instruct individuals who need to self-quarantine.
Self-Monitoring includes:
- Monitoring for symptoms consistent with COVID-19 which include fever, cough, shortness of breath but also may include other symptoms such as fatigue, loss of taste and smell, and diarrhea.
- If you are self-monitoring and develop symptoms, you should call your primary care physician first for testing. If you do not have a primary care physician, please call 1-800-432-4121.
Per Governor Whitmer鈥檚 Executive Order 2020-77 all individuals, other than those outlined , must stay home and leave the household only for essential items. If you need support during this time, call 211 for information regarding local resources.
Health Officer, Lisa Peacock, states, 鈥渨e hope these individuals have a full recovery, and we understand that the actions required by this executive order are difficult. However, we know that they can have powerful and impactful results in controlling the spread of this disease and urge all our residents comply with the required protective measures.鈥
Any individual with mild symptoms of COVID-19 can and should get tested. Please contact your primary care physician or call 1-800-432-4121 to request a test.
