Environmental & Sustainability Studies Programs at ÌÀÍ·Ìõapp

With global concern growing about climate change and environmental degradation, there is an increasing need for individuals with the knowledge and expertise to address these challenges. North Central's program integrates knowledge from various disciplines including biology, chemistry, economics, and social sciences, providing students with a holistic understanding of environmental challenges. Graduates are well prepared to contribute to the well-being of the planet and future generations with roles in environmental policy, renewable energy, conservation, sustainable business practices, and more.

Environmental and Sustainability Studies — Associate of Arts Concentration:
MTA APPROVED

Our interdisciplinary curriculum incorporates knowledge and insight from various fields including biology, sociology, economics, and geography, preparing graduates to tackle complex environmental issues from multiple perspectives. Hands-on learning opportunities such as fieldwork, lab experiments, and internships allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in environmental and sustainability studies or for bachelor's degree completion in this or a related field.

This program meets Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) requirements, which guarantees your North Central credits will transfer seamlessly to participating partner universities statewide.

Anton Epskamp tackles a growing problem.

Working out in North Central's 195-acre Natural Area as part of his ENVS class, Epskamp discovered Emmet County's first instance of the rare, invasive plant species Daphne mezereum.
