ÌÀÍ·Ìõapp’s welding program is taking a step toward the future with the addition of a cutting-edge robotic welding arm, made possible through the incredible generosity of our Foundation donors. This exciting new equipment will enhance the hands-on experience for our students, preparing them for a rapidly evolving manufacturing industry where automation plays an increasingly critical role.
This robotic arm will be a new component of our Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Welding. While students will continue to perfect manual welding techniques, this new tool will provide them with the opportunity to automate processes they’ve learned by hand. Honing both welding techniques will give our graduates a significant advantage when they enter the workforce.
Why is this equipment so important? Manufacturers in our region and across the country are turning to automation, including robotic welding, to improve efficiency and address workforce shortages. Even in local plants, company representatives have shared with us that they are still learning how to fully integrate welding robots into their operations. By training on the latest technology at North Central, our students will be better equipped to meet these challenges head-on.
While the robotic arm won’t be operational until the new welding lab is completed — part of our Career and Technical Education Enhancement project (CATEE) — your contributions have already paved the way for this significant upgrade to impact our student’s futures.
The future of welding is here, and it’s thanks to our donors. Your continued support ensures that North Central’s students are ready to thrive in industries that are more automated, efficient, and safer than ever.
